STING AND LES PAUL

imageThe new Les Paul and Friends album is now available. Sting contributes together with Joss Stone, on “Love Sneakin’ Up On You”. The album, released by Capitol/EMI Music Catalog Marketing, also features Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Joss Stone, Richie Sambora and a host of other musicians.

The riotous cover of Bonnie Raitt’s “Love Sneakin’ Up On You” cleverly illustrates how generational boundaries are virtually nonexistent in Paul’s world. The unlikely vocal pairing of veteran rocker Sting, with fellow Brit and 18-year-old soul sensation Joss Stone, is a stroke of genius. Joss laments “Rainy night/I’m all alone/Sittin’ here waitin’ for your/Voice on the phone.” Sting contends, “Nowhere on Earth for your heart to hide/Once love comes sneakin’ up on your blind side…/You just can’t fight it when a thing’s meant to be.” Kenny Wayne Shepherd on slide guitar gives the song its earthy feel, but it is Les’ virtuosic metal crunching that defines the cut.
