The global concerts from Bob Geldof, the founder of Live Aid, will air on MTV, VH1 and MTV’s college networks, as well as on AOL, XM Satellite Radio and Premiere Radio Networks. MTV, VH1 and mtvU will air select live coverage from Live 8 from noon to 8 p.m. on July 2. Also, sister services Country Music Television and VH1 Classic will air some performances a day later. MTV’s networks will supplement the live telecasts with packages looking at the original 1985 Live Aid concert and Live 8.
Ten global Live 8 concerts are taking place in cities including London, Berlin, Rome, Philadelphia and Johannesburg in a bid to highlight world poverty, ahead of the G8 summit in Scotland.
