“The last time we played in Melbourne we broke up,” observed Sting at last night’s Police show at the MCG in Melbourne. It is an interesting city for the band to return to as the last official gig they had as a band was in Melbourne in 1984. Rumours of a break-up swept the city at the time of that tour but were denied. They turned out to be correct and Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland headed home after their Melbourne show and into a messy break-up.
