Sting is set to receive a top honour in recognition of his artistic and humanitarian work across the globe. The singer has been nominated for the Freedom of the Borough award in North Tyneside, the highest accolade the council can bestow. His name has been put forward by two councillors Margaret Finlay, who represents the Wallsend ward, and Mary Glindon, who stands for Battle Hill. Several others have supported the nomination, which will be discussed at a full council meeting on May 20.
