A new multi-platform BBC initiative featuring veteran rockers Jeff Beck, Roger Daltrey, Sting and Jon Bon Jovi will attempt to deconstruct what makes the perfect band. Project will include a five-part documentary, provisionally entitled “Rock ‘n’ Roll,” narrated by Brit music show anchor Mark Radcliffe plus online and radio content. The docu will bow on BBC 2 this spring and aims to explain the success of some of the greatest bands of the past 50 years, including the Who, the Police, the Doors, Bon Jovi and the Foo Fighters. It will culminate in a live studio program where music fans discuss their favorite musicians and create what the pubcaster claims is “the ultimate fantasy band.” It includes over 100 interviews with rock ‘n’ roll greats from Sting, Roger Daltrey and Jon Bon Jovi talking about what it means to be lead singer, to Jeff Beck and Slash on the role of the guitarist and interviews with drummers Phil Collins and Chad Smith.
