As part of 9/11 Memorials And Events, 92Y’s chamber music series will feature the 92Y debut of Sting on 14-15 September, who will be the special guest for the World Premiere of Stanley Silvermans Piano Trio No. 2, “Reveille.” It will take place in in NYC at Kaufmann Concert Hall, Lexington Avenue and 92nd Street.
The work was commissioned by the composer’s son, Ben Silverman, and is dedicated to Bens life-long friend Herman Sandler, who died in the 9/11 attacks. Sandler was a founding partner in Sandler O’Neill and Partners and a principal supporter of the Rainforest Foundation Benefit Concerts at Carnegie Hall produced by Sting’s wife, Trudie Styler. This commission is Silvermans second for The Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio and marks the ensembles 35th anniversary. His first, Trio No. 1 (In Celebration), was a 92Y co-commission honoring the 15th Anniversary Season of the Chamber Music at 92Y series.
Update: Sting first sang a lute song with the trio, then performed his classic Fragile with them.
