During the press conference and mini-rehearsal at the Los Angeles venue Whisky A Go Go on 12 February, The Police performed a couple of songs and joking with one another on stage, while also answering questions from audience members during a brief question-and-answer session.
Before taking the stage, the band exhibited a sense of humour by playing an old recording of frontman Sting saying he would have to be dubbed “certifiably insane” if The Police ever got back together. Now however, Sting stated that “We had such a good time at the Grammys last night, we thought we’d dig these out of the vault and rehearse them.” The Police then launched into “Message In A Bottle”. Then followed “When The World Is Running Down”. Throughout the song, Stewart Copeland shouted out chord changes to Andy Summers. Next, The Police played “I Can’t Stand Losing You” and “Roxanne”.
