AOL has announced it will broadcast the Live 8 concerts for free online next month. The event, organised by Bob Geldof, consists of five music concerts taking place on the same day to highlight the problem or global poverty. The concerts will take place in London, Philadelphia, Paris, Rome and Berlin on 2 July.
Coldplay, Sir Elton John, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Scissor Sisters, Sir Paul McCartney, Sting, Robbie Williams, U2 and R.E.M. are scheduled to perform in Hyde Park for the London event. As Live 8s exclusive online partner, America Online will broadcast all of the Live 8 concerts for free as they happen. The shows will also be viewable for the following six weeks.
