As we had mentioned before, advance copies of Sting’s new album were floating around, and now this new album has also been massively leaked through tens of torrent sites in the last few days. A spokesperson for Deutsche Grammophon confirmed to us that the music company is very annoyed by these illegal copies, but will be able to track the leak thanks to a digital “watermark”. Apparently a music magazine reporter who received an advance copy is at the center of this. A similar incident happened with Depeche Mode’s latest release as well. There as well a German music reporter was the culprit. Fake torrents are now being uploaded on almost all torrent sites to “discourage” downloads.
In related news, the Japanese Limited edition will feature the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD players) and includes a bonus DVD. A similar version (normal CD format though) will be available elsewhere. There is apparently also a 2CD/1DVD set to be released, but no further news on this. The image shows the LP cover.
The DVD set is to contain the “Making of …” filmed in Tuscany and was directed by Jim Gable, with the cinematographer being Tony Molina. Tony Molina is also the photographer on this Sting CD cover and liner notes. Jim Gable is also directing the upcoming DVD live concert shoot in Durham for this new CD on the 17th and 18th of September.
Overall impression of the album? A rather dull album. Maybe an open fire scene with cold weather and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon might change our impressions. 🙂
