BAND AID III

image Coldplay, The Darkness and Travis are among the bands that will be involved in re-recording the Band Aid song ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ The charity record would be designed to, once again, raise money to tackle the latest African famine crisis.
Bob Geldof has given the re-release his backing, telling reporters: “I’m 100 per cent behind it. The money will be critical as there are more severe famine conditions now and it will get worse in the next couple of months.” The first time the song was released was twenty years ago with Bono, Duran Duran, Sting, Boy George and George Michael. It was re-recorded in 1989. The original raised £8m for famine relief in Ethiopia and spawned the hugely successful Live Aid concert in July 1985.
