Big names from the music industry initiated an intiative to obtain the freedom of the dissident Aung San Suu Kyi who is in a Burma jail. Bands like U2, Pearl Jam, Coldplay, REM and musicians as Sting (with Fragilidad), Paul McCartney and Eric Clapton are involved in the project according to MTV. End of October they will present an album with 27 tracks entitled “For the Lady: Dedicated to freeing Aung San Suu Kyi” that should raise money for the “US Campaign For Burma”, that aims at changing Burma’s political landscape, hence supporting the Nobel Peace Prize winner in her battle for democracy in Burma that is governed by a military regime since 1962. Ayng San Suu Kyi is the only Nobel Peace Prize winner who is emprisoned. Most recently, the European Union gave Burma 1 month the time to release Aung San Suu Kyi and improve the human rights situation.
