The Sun reported that celebrities will be lining up their chips this evening as they take part in a gambling event in aid of charity. Pop star Madonna, Hollywood actor Hugh Grant and Trudie Styler, the wife of Sting, are expected to be among the card enthusiasts helping to raise around £300,000. Other guests include footballer Teddy Sheringham and Tom Parker Bowles, son of the Prince of Wales’s wife Camilla.
Players paid £10,000 a head to attend the night at the exclusive private members’ club Fifty in St James’s, central London. The fundraiser has been organised by two keen poker players who will be attending the event – environmentalist Zac Goldsmith, 31-year-old editor of the Ecologist magazine, and Australian cricket star Shane Warne.
