STING RECEIVES HONORARY DEGREE

imageWhile part of StingUs-team was also at University of Newcastle, but for business purposes, a few blocks further Sting collected an honorary degree (Honorary Doctor of Music (DMus)) at Newcastle University’s King’s Hall. We also spotted Sting the day before on Gateshead’s Millennium Bridge, together with quite some press.
In addition to that, the evening before we tested out the restaurant at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art where Sting was hosting a private party for family and friends there this evening. Food was exquisite, so was the wine. So surely they all had a great treat.
The honour was conferred by the Chancellor of Newcastle University, Lord Patten of Barnes, at a ceremony in the University’s King’s Hall. Accepting the honour, Sting said: “It is very exciting to see the diversity of music being studied at Newcastle University, with developments like the folk and traditional music degree now being taught alongside classical and popular music.”
