01.03.07 30th Anniversary of the First Police Single – Official News
As numerous rumors have started circulating regarding plans for a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the release of the first Police single, the following is an official statement released on behalf of the band by a spokesperson at Interscope Geffen A&M Records:
“As the 30th anniversary of the first Police single approaches, discussions have been underway as to how this will be commemorated. While we can confirm that there will indeed be something special done to mark the occasion, the depth of the band’s involvement still remains undetermined.”
More news as we get it.
But to get the rumour mill going, it is suggested that The Police will play a string of UK and USA dates during May and June, which could include either a high profile set at the Isle Of Wight Festival, Glastonbury and/or Hyde Park Calling.
In addition, sources told Billboard.com the reports -in the British press- were legitimate, but they would not publicly comment until final details are nearer to completion.
Finally, both CNN and Billboard took over our news regarding the multi-disc collection in the vein of 1993’s “Message in a Box”. More news on this box will be released by us in the next 24 hours, including a full tracklist.
